Going with CATE to CERN

CATECERN
Examec participated in a field trip to CERN in early May. CATE organised the trip for businesses in the Øresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak region that are able to produce mechanical components for
ESS and MAX IV – and for the REX-ISOLDE accelerator at CERN. The purpose of the trip was to put together a network of businesses and researchers, as well as to demonstrate various ongoing projects at workshops.

The Cluster for Accelerator Technology (CATE) project was launched by researchers who realised that regional businesses would have to collaborate with each other and with universities if they wanted to supply research facilities like ESS and MAX IV with accelerator modules. Furthermore, skills development in order to manufacture the modules is badly needed. The goal of the project is to bring businesses together and offer training in the area.
